The biggest concerns associated with getting a tattoo or a piercing is the possibility of contracting an infection or even a deadly disease such as AIDS, Hepatitis B, Hepatitis C, tetanus, syphilis, tuberculosis and other blood-born diseases. We have minimized every risk possible for our clients by exceeding the Local Health Board requirements and comply to all of Health Canada's Guidelines.

Sterilization MUST be the largest contributing factor to your decision on where you get a tattoo. Now you may ask yourself "What are the odds"? Unfortunately, it happens more often than you know of as Hepatitis C can lie in your body unnoticed for many years while doing serious damage. There is NO cure for Hepatitis C and it is fatal! Do not play Russian Roulette with your life!

Our sterilization procedures are not only there to protect our clients, but ourselves as well. Therefore, it is truly in our best interest to take every pre-caution to ensure all risks are minimized.

The Autoclave -The most important piece of equipment that every tattoo studio should have is the autoclave.  An autoclave is a device to sterilize equipment and supplies by subjecting them to high pressure steam at 121° C or more, this means that all bacteria, viruses, fungi, and spores are inactivated.

We proudly use the Ritter M7 Autoclave Sterilizers. To ensure your safety we have this unit spore tested every 2 weeks by a 3rd party laboratory named B-Safe.

The autoclave is the highest level of sterilization available on the planet. It will destroy all bacteria, micro organisms and blood born diseases Including HIV and Hepatitis.

Spore Testing - Spore testing is a small piece of filter paper that is impregnated with thousands of bacterial spores. The strip is sealed in a permeable glassine envelope and is used to monitor the effectiveness of an autoclave sterilizer. When ran through a sterilization cycle, if the spores are destroyed, you can be assured that any potential pathogens on the items being sterilized have also been destroyed.

Studios failing to implement spore testing leave their client exposed to deadly diseases and the very real threat of biological cross-contamination. If a studio has no official records of routinely passing spore tests, there is
NO WAY possible you can be assured that their sterilization process is working properly.

Ultrasonic Cleaner - Prior to inserting our tattoo and piercing tools into the autoclave, we are required to clean them first. For this task we use a heated Sharperteck Ultrasonic Cleaner. An ultrasonic cleaner is a cleaning device that uses ultrasound (usually from 150–400 kHz) and a cleaning solution to clean delicate items. After conclusive studies, ultrasonic cleaning system proves to be more effective compared to any other cleaning systems used in the medical field.

The ultrasonic cleaner uses sound waves at a rate 44,000 times a second to break up and dislodge blood and dirt particles from our tattoo and piercing tools.

14 Day Test Cycle -Every 14 days we test our autoclave by inserting two test spore strips inside the sterilization chamber for the duration of one sterilization cycle. Once the cycle is complete, the two test strips are removed from the chamber placed in an envelope then mailed to the B-Safe lab for a seven-day analysis.

Upon completion of the seven-day analysis official documentations is mailed to us with all the details and a simple pass/fail result. We have our test results for the last 2 years and can be seen upon request.

Never get tattooed at a studio that can not show you spore test records from 2 weeks ago!

Purell Sanitizer - Every room in our studio is equipped with a wall-mounted liquid hand sanitizer. It has been clinically proven hand contact the number one cause of spreading germs and viruses and even infections.

We encourage everyone that enters our shop to use the hand sanitizer in an effort to maintain an ongoing clean and sterile environment.

Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), states that using hand sanitizing with an alcohol-based rub are critical to minimize the spread of germs during illness outbreaks, such as the Swine Flu.
